THE MIDDLE MARATHON

HOW IT WORKS:

Sharing the same basic principles of many walkathons, teams of participants raise money by soliciting donations from their personal networks. Donors sponsor the individual and their teams participation in this unique event. Donors can pledge online or give money directly to the participant.

During the 26.2 hours, The Middle will offer a variety of fun and entertaining activities in the Franklin Opera House. Each team will have a designated Team Chair that must be occupied for the duration of the event. All team members are welcome for as much or as little of the 26 hours of fun as they choose, but at least one member of the team must be in the Team Chair at all times.

FORMING A TEAM:

Its easy and fun to lead or be on a team! Whether youre on a corporate team, family team or civic group team, the Middle Marathon offers food, festivity, fun, prizes and some great entertainmentall with people you know and like, and all for a great cause! Captains act as the team leader, helping to form the team, communicate with team members and encourage fundraising. Registering a team or as an individual on a team takes about one minute online. Click here to register now!

THE TEAM CHAIR:

Well provide a basic theatre chair for you, or you can bring your own super comfy chairperhaps the cushiest stuffed recliner you can find, a favorite rocking chair or a massage chair anything goes! In this Marathon, you dont run, you dont walk, you dont lift a finger: Sit, relax and let us entertain and pamper youseriously! Were even giving little bells to each designated Chair-sitter to jingle whenever they want something. Supporting this great cause is a great gig!

TEAMS RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. RAISE MONEY.

Foremost, this is a fundraiser, so priority one is raising money. Each team commits to raise at least $1,000 to purchase their chair and team admission for the duration of the event. Teams can be as large or small as you want. For example, if you have 26 team members, each has to raise less than $40 and has just one hour of commitment. With six people on a team, thats a very manageable $166 to raise per team member, and four hours each in the chair. Theres a range of great prizes and incentives for fundraising, so the more money each individual and team raises, the better the prizes get!

2. OCCUPY THE CHAIR.

The Team Chair must be occupied for the entirety of the 26.2-hour event. Team members take turns sitting in the chair and getting pampered and entertained. Who has the comfiest, snazziest, best-decorated, overall coolest chair or lounging vessel on your team? (One team will win a prize for that!)

3. ENTERTAIN.

This is about supporting arts, culture and entertainment, so non-stop arts and entertainment is part of what you can expect at this marathon! Well have a broad range of quality, professional entertainment throughout the eventand a mix of fun amateur entertainment and other activities. Thats where you come in: During the event, each team will be responsible for providing some form of entertainment for event participants. Each team will have a designated time slot (generally 15 to 60 minutes) when the team will contribute to the fun and festivities on stage. Keep in mind that this entertainment can take many forms, from real performances to leading a game of charades, musical chairs, bingo almost anything goes! If youre at a loss, dont worry, well help you. The key is simply for everyone to have fun and stay engaged for the whole 26.2 hours. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of categories. Team Captain liaisons from The Middle Marathon organizing committee will be in touch to discuss entertainment ideas for your team.
